Processing: Your Brain in Motion

The middle-ground colored shapes reference the brain and its Rubik’s cube-like ability to help us achieve a near-limitless number of possible interpretations of input. The flower with its accompanying dendrites is piecing together more blocks in the puzzle of human perception; the eye represents our unique perspective, weaving in and out of our consciousness, creating who we are- and who we inform our further experiences…and round and round it goes. Boundless horizons are formed from infinite centers…our brain is the center of all interpretations.

La Banda Floral

This piece celebrates the beauty of music. The regional flowers represent the idea of different cultures around the world, and how each unique flower contributes to the sound of the “band” or world music! I tried to recreate how unifying music can be, by creating a terrain with no borders, just natural ones with how wavy the ground looks to represent mountains, as well as adding a body of water :). Also, I added similar flowers surrounding each flower, which plays into the concept of different cultures / races.

Live Mural Event for BACCA’s World Music Day

This was a collaboration with Colored Colors and BACCA for their World Music Day event on July 8th at Sully’s Wharf Tanner Park in Copiague. This was a non-traditional mural as it was installed on a series of panels instead of a wall. I took the lead on the design of the panels.

A Garden of Today for Tomorrow

Mural 1 : Building the Garden of Today

In this mural, I delve into the narrative of Mother Nature as a participant in constructing our communal garden. Eager to glean insights on garden construction, she finds herself submerged in a book found at the Baldwin Public Library. She symbolizes the desire for growth and connection within our shared environment. The terms used in the design highlight the collaborative aspect required to cultivate and sustain a thriving “community”. I invite viewers to reflect on the importance of nurturing relationships with one another and with the earth to remind them of our responsibility to foster harmony and reciprocity within our community.

A Garden of Today for Tomorrow

Mural 2 : Planting the Garden of Tomorrow

In this mural, I explore the idea of growth and renewal. This artwork depicts astronauts planting flowers in the Space Garden. As two astronauts tend to the flowers in the garden, a third reaches out to grasp a flower drifting gracefully through space. This moment captures the essence of exploration and discovery, as we reach out to connect with a world beyond our confines. I aim to emphasize a sense of wonder and admiration for the mysteries of the universe, while also underlying our responsibility to our world and guardian of its future.
